A friendly suggestion building off Doug's . . .  if we were to host one, combined webinar, perhaps DITA Adoption should go first. Non-techies could drop off when we get to some of the more technical issues with the TC . . .or not. Much of the success of engaging non-technical people with technical overview information is in the presentation format and tone.

Hello, Adoption TC members,

It may be worth considering two separate Webinars for different audiences: one covering business aspects and advantages, the other for technical practitioners. DITA will always seem overly technical to non-technical people so I think trying to cover everything in one Webinar could be counter-productive.

At the 7 December 2010 meeting of the DITA TC, we discussed the possibility of co-sponsoring an OASIS Webinar with the Adoption Committee about DITA 1.2.

 

What do you think? Is this something that we should pursue? Perhaps people involved in the 2008 (?) OASIS Webinar about XLIFF could share their experiences as how easy or difficult it was to do a Webinar under OASIS aegis?

 

Possible content would include:

·         Overview of DITA 1.2

·         Business value of DITA 1.2

·         Possibly addressing some of the perceptions of DITA’s complexity

·         Other items to be determined

 

I suggest that we add this to the agenda for the next DITA Adoption TC meeting.
