Subject: "Styling" references to figures or tables
It would be very useful to have a means to style a reference to a figure or table in the DITA source. Right now, the text which is substituted for an xref is different depending on the conversion target. It would be very useful to specify that the processing engines should substitute "Figure {#}" or "Figure {#} on page {#}" or "the {above,following} figure" when I type <xref/> in the source. Such a usage of xref is strongly coupled to the sentence in which it is found, and the sentence will only read correctly when the document is processed for the target for which it is written. Bryce
