Subject: Comments on metadata in DITA 1.3 spec
Comment 1: In analogy with 2.3.4.8 suggest to rephrase as the second sentence to: By default, metadata in the map
is supplemented or overriden by metadata that is specified at the topic level, unless the @lockmeta attribute of the <topicmeta> element is set to "yes". By using the passive voice, the “information flow” is the same in both places (“from topic into map”). Comment 2: If <topicmeta lockmeta="yes"> -- does this mean that additional metadata in the topic itself is becoming void (e.g. if <topicmeta> does not have <keywords> and the topic prolog itself has an indexterm inside <keywords>)? I would assume
that this is indeed the case, but it may be helpful to state this explicitly. Comment 3: In 4th paragraph For: are available in a topic also are available read: are available in a topic are also available ---------------------------- Comment 4: Table 1, entry for <navtitle>: “Not added to the topic; applies only to navigation that is created based on this occurrence in the map.” Here it is stated specifically that this behavior refers to navigation only. The statement in 2.2.4.3 ("The alternate titles can override their equivalents in the topic.") is more open and may also include overriding the actual title of
the topic itself. Can the two statements be made more similar? Richard Forster Information Architect, Global Publication Support Services Varian Medical Systems Imaging Lab GmbH Täfernstrasse 7 CH-5405 Baden-Dättwil |
