Subject: Re: [dita-help] Lateral Thinking - Cloning the DHSC

Title: Re: [dita-help] Lateral Thinking - Cloning the DHSC
Hi Everyone,
I think the members of the DITA Adoption TC would welcome this move. We’re thinking of doing the same thing with the Translation SC. We’ve already published a feature article on glossary that was originally developed in the Translation SC, which is part of the DITA TC. The feature articles and best practices seem better suited to the Adoption TC.

Hi Tony

Even though it would appear the current subcommittee can publish the guide, I personally think it would be very helpful to clone. Not only would each SC potentially have a better focus, but I would get the 48 hours a day I currently need.

Before going down this route we should review/renew the discussion I remember about where -- WRT help systems -- specialization stops and implementation begins.

Hi Tony,

The charter of the DITA TC was not changed in any way; whatever was allowable previously is still allowable. That said, there's no reason not to have parallel subcommittees - one working on the actual DITA specialization and another working on its adoption.

Regards,

Mary
