SCORM 2.0 White Papers on LETSI - DITA and S1000D Discussed

New requirements for SCORM 2.0 are being collected at http://www.letsi.org/letsi/display/nextscorm/An+Organization+of+Areas. White papers are organized into topic areas. You are invited to read and comment on all papers and to participate in LETSI - Learning, Education, Training Systems Interoperability. Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) is in the processes of transitioning the stewardship of SCORM to LETSI. The SCORM 2.0 requirements gathering process is part of that transition.

DITA and S1000D are part of the recommended requirements documented in two papers (so far). I partnered with Dr. Bill Blackmon, ADL's Chief Technical Officer, to create the paper "PerformanceSCORM: Supporting Data Readiness and Life Cycle Logistics". Recommendations include directly referencing DITA and S1000D in to SCORM 2.0 to ensure learning content is in sync with other supporting information and the products they teach and document. Allyn Radford of Learnilities contributed requirements in his paper, "SCORM 2.0: Learning in the Mainstream". Allyn has constructed a well-documented paper arguing for the adoption of DITA to address problems he identifies in SCORM.

There is plenty to read, and...if you have ideas that identify problems, requirements, use cases and solutions for SCORM 2.0, you are invited to draw up a paper and submit it to scorm2@letsi.org. The deadline is August 15, but there is always time for good ideas.
