Programmer tools for manipulating Office documents

I mentioned this in today's meeting. Apache POI is Java-based and can be 
used to manipulate various Microsoft Office documents, including 
Powerpoint. I don't know if it can handle the magic graphics that 
Michael Priestley mentioned.
