Subject: Re: [dita-lightweight-dita] Re: LwDITA question

Hi Patrick,

That will be valid MDITA. The problem with non-normative references like the LwDITA committee note and even my book on LwDITA (which, by the way, mentions you!) is that things are subject to change. The ID and class identifier in headings was a feature of MDITA originally, but then it was abandoned, and now it is back in.
Complicated... but that's why we are now working on the spec and use input like yours to create normative references.

Best,

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

Thanks for gettingÂback to me.

Why wouldn't the ability to conref to id'd elements be provided? E.g.:

# Topic title {#reusables}

## Section title {#reuse-me .section}

## Example title {#or-me .example}

<section conref="./my-mdita.md#reusables/reuse-me" />

Thanks,

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Sorry for the late reply but I was at STC in Denver (and I saw the easyDITA booth!)
Let's see:
As proposed, content in an MDITA topic can be conref-ed from an XDITA, HDITA, MDITA, or DITA topic.
The syntax, as of right now, should look like this:

---
id: topicofmine
---

# My topic

This is a short description-like paragraph.

<p id="share">I want to share this with the world.</p>

--
The second "paragraph" has to be an HDITA (the format of LwDITA based on HTML5) snippet, and it can be called from another topic in any other LwDITA authoring format or DITA.
We are currently evaluating an alternative Markdown-based mapping for conrefs that uses a hyperlink-like syntax and does not need an HTML5 snippet inside the MDITA topic.
Let me know if you need more information.

Best,

Carlos

Yes, let's catch up. But for your question, I'll forward your e-mail to the LwDITA subcommittee for a more precise answer.

Hey Kris,

How goes it? It's been a while, we should have a chat to catch up sometime soon.

I've got a quick MDITA question. I'm trying to figure out conref'ing between Markdown and DITA, is the intention to support this in the LwDITA spec? If yes, is the idea that the files stay as Markdown and the processor supports conrefing to content inside the Markdown content?

Thanks!
