Collegues
As discussed at our
last meeting I have investigated what would be the most common wording to be
used for an attribute mentioning if it is an SI value or an US value for
quantities.
The two most
convenient versions would be:
Units of
Measurement
System of
Units
or
System of
Measurement
(For the example I
will use system-of-measurement="...")
As values we either
have to decide to keep it open or we are going to use an enumerated
list.
Most convenient
values would be:
SI
Metric
US
Imperial
English
but there are other
systems also used, but not common:
Natural
-Geometric
-Planck
-Stoney
-Schrödinger
-Atomic
-Electronic
-Quantum
Electrodynamic
and there are also
some none-standard units who do not belong to any of the mentioned above, like
megaton, football pitch,
as well as systems
used in other cultural areas, e.g.
middle eastern
system of measurement
asian system of
measurement
or no longer used
abbreviations in the metric system:
mks
cgs
or ancient,
historical systems of measurements.
*************
a minimal enumerated
list would be:
SI
Imperial
other
or we may choose a
broader list like:
SI
Metric
US
Imperial
Natural
None-standard
Other
(For the example I
will use this list)
or we just leave it
open.
We will discuss this
on our next meeting.
Best
regards
