For what it's worth, the person who might assume the chair role is a writer with an electrical engineering background who is new to DITA, but understands the
technical and customer-facing aspects of the information very well.

I have semiconductor company clients, and would definitely be interested in continuing to work in this space. I think it's important that the chair be someone who's directly working for a semiconductor company, so Severin's offer to find someone from Altera
to chair it is key.

Dear subcommittee members:
To follow up on Kris' message, I am discussing the possibility of having someone from Altera chair this subcommittee (not me, by the way). We think this subcommittee's work has significant potential value for our company, and would like to see the efforts started
again. However, there's not much point in moving forward if the only participation is from Altera staff. If I can locate a suitable person to chair, are there others who will commit to regular participation? If you are willing to help drive the progress of
this committee, either on the information model side or the implementation side, please respond to this message. I am hoping there will be enough interest to restart the committee's activities.

Subject: [dita-sidsc] Need to reactivate or close this subcommittee
Dear subcommittee members:
At the DITA TC meeting last week, we discussed the future of this subcommittee. It has been inactive since Bob Beims left Freescale and so was unable to continue as the SC chair.
At this time, we'd like members to consider stepping up to reactivate the SC. Folks from Freescale or Altera, might you be able to provide leadership?
If the SC has not reconvened and elected a chair by the end of November, the DITA TC will vote to close the subcommittee.

Kris
