Subject: RE: [dita-techcomm] Meeting on Monday 3 October
I'm not understanding most of what's written on that wiki page, but
perhaps we can discuss it at today's meeting. Some questions I have: 1. It talks about "a <prop> element in the VAL
file", but I don't know what that means. 2. It says "the @rev attribute…can be used with a
start and end range", but I don't understand how that would work. 3. It says that the @rev attribute makes it "possible to
indicate changes at a very granular level" but I don't see how an
attribute allows for granularity of change indication. I would also reword the first paragraph to avoid it seeming to
suggest that change tracking is about flags, change bars, colors, etc. (I know
JoAnn wasn't really suggesting that, but a casual reader could misunderstand.) I
think we need to make clear that change tracking is about the markup that
captures the change information, and keep that separate from the many possible
ways one could want to indicate changes in a printed or online display. paul From:

Behalf Of JoAnn Hackos Dear SC Members: Please don't forget tomorrow's meeting of the SC. Note: The @rev attribute is available on the root element, at
least in my check in Oxgyen. Before the meeting tomorrow, please add a use case on the Change
Tracking wiki. We would really appreciate making progress on this item. See you tomorrow. Best regards, JoAnn Hackos |
