Subject: DocBook table accessibility proposal
- From: Nancy P Harrison <nancyph@us.ibm.com>
- To: "DITA TC list " <dita@lists.oasis-open.org>
- Date: Tue, 14 Dec 2004 11:48:32 -0500
At the last DocBook TC meeting, it was
proposed that an attribute be added to the DocBook table model for accessibility
purposes.
<!ATTLIST table
rowheader (firstcol | norowheader)
#IMPLIED>
The 'rowheader' attribute can indicate either that
-
the first column of table contains row headers (value "firstcol"),
or
-
that there are no row headers in a table (value "norowheader").
The attribute is the one already discussed
and adopted by the DITA TC
The TC didn't come to a final resolution
on the attribute, but decided to raise the issue in the [docbook] list.
After the TC meeting, the change was proposed for discussion to the
[docbook] list. Thus far there's been no response, which could be
taken to mean that DocBook users in general aren't yet feeling accessibility
constraints.
