Subject: index-see-also proposed wording
Proposed additional wording for index-see-also. In addition to my earlier email, I realized that we need to cover the case of multiple index-see-also elements for a single index entry. I assumed it might make sense to see "see also Goldfish, see also Carp", so I decided that is not an error. > -----Original Message----- > From: Grosso, Paul [mailto:pgrosso@ptc.com] > Sent: Tuesday, 2006 September 26 11:37 > To: dita@lists.oasis-open.org > Subject: RE: [dita] review of index* elements > > index-see-also > > -------------- > > The description doesn't make clear when a see becomes > > a see-also and vice versa or whether there are error > > cases and/or when we ignore one in favor of the other. > > > > Proposed resolution: > > An index-see-also always generates a page number. > That is, an index-see-also is effectively a pointwise > indexterm (as well as the see-also reference). Therefore, > there is never a situation where index-see-also becomes > an index-see. Add as a final two paras of the section: In addition to its "see also" redirection, an index-see-also functions as a pointwise indexterm, thereby typically generating a page reference as well as the "see also" indication. It is not an error for there to be multiple index-see-also elements for a single index entry.
