Subject: Intent of <author> as a link
I noticed, perhaps for the first time, that <author> takes the linking attributes (href, keyref, format, scope). The 12/11/09 draft lang ref entry for author doesn't say anything about the link nature of <author>. I'm wonder what the general intent is: is it, as I assume, to create a link to some other resource that represents the author in general, e.g., a biography entry, author database entry, etc.? Does IBM, in particular, have an implementation of <author> as a link that can serve as a guide to how it might be used in practice? This is not a design issue, I'm just looking for background information on the semantic of <author>.
