Subject: RE: [dita] Acknowledgments in the DITA 1.2 spec -- what should theycontain?
I agree Paul. I must have lost track of the context. Now I think we're resolved on a single list including every TC member who's paying enough attention to ask to be included. Personally, sometimes I think I further our business here better by doing less, not more. And as Patience counseled Milton, they also serve who only stand and wait. --Dana -----Original Message----- From: Grosso, Paul [mailto:pgrosso@ptc.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 23, 2010 1:53 PM To: DITA TC Subject: RE: [dita] Acknowledgments in the DITA 1.2 spec -- what should they contain? > -----Original Message----- > From: Dana Spradley [mailto:dana.spradley@oracle.com] > Sent: Monday, 2010 February 22 18:35 > To: Bruce Nevin (bnevin); Kristen James Eberlein; DITA TC > Subject: RE: [dita] Acknowledgments in the DITA 1.2 spec -- what should > they contain? > > I was fishing, mystified as to why Paul wanted to be left off the list. This topic deserves so much less time and effort than it has already taken by a factor of 100. I hesitate to write again, but it seems my silence is not helping either. I want to be left off the list of editors because: 1. I wasn't an editor, and 2. it looks sophmoric and unprofessional to have a list of "editors" that numbers in the teens. Look at the original XML spec which has three editors, a status section naming the group that developed the standard, and an appendix listing just the principal members (not even the alternates, of which I was one) of the working group at the time of publication. I also think acknoledgements that sound like an Oscar acceptance speech are unprofessional. As members of the TC, we shouldn't be acknowledged for doing what, as members of the TC, we signed up to do. That is why--in an attempt at a compromise that seems to address the OASIS rules--I suggested that we just have a short section listing the TC membership (and I was not suggesting I wanted to be omitted from that list nor that I don't want my name associated with DITA 1.2 or anything like that). paul --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this mail list, you must leave the OASIS TC that generates this mail.
