Compelling and relevant international content is crucial to many companies.
Recent research in the European Union has shown that companies with formal
language plans show substantially higher growth rates than their otherwise
similar counterparts that lack such plans. However, such plans are
jeopardized by a currently fragmented landscape in which the various tools
that are used to create international content often do not work well
together and there is little standardization. As a result companies are
forced into vertically integrated production systems from specific vendors
or must face significant hurdles to integrate solutions from different
vendors.

Dr. Arle Lommel of the Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA)
and Jamie Clark from OASIS will look at how standards for the production of
global content can be improved to reduce costs, increase quality, and
ultimately help companies reach out to their counterparts in their own
languages. This meeting will help gauge interest among OASIS members for
joint activities between OASIS and LISA.

Topics to be discussed include:

1. Introduction to OASIS and LISA.
2. Existing standards: What’s already there?
3. A changing standards landscape: Why standards from ten years ago won’t
work for today’s needs.
4. Open discussion on new initiatives.
5. What’s next: Options for LISA/OASIS collaboration, potential Localization
Interoperability Technical Committee.

Who should attend?

* Anyone active in working with the production or use of global content in
an enterprise environment.
* Developers of content management systems that must interact with
translation or localization processes.
* Developers of language-processing technologies.
* Anyone with an interest in international production issues.

This webinar will be repeated two times to accommodate various time zones:

1. 03:00 EST, 08:00UTC, 09:00 CET, 16:00 Beijing

2.  12:00PM EST, 9:00 PT, 17:00UTC, 18:00 CET, 01:00 Beijing (**11 February)

After registering you will receive a confirmation email containing
information about joining the Webinar.
