Members receive OASIS Distinguished Contributor Awards

Don Day, Hal Lockhart, John Sabo, and Jerry Smith were recognized as

OASIS Distinguished Contributors at the Annual General Meeting of

Members in July. Recipients are chosen based on outstanding

achievement in the areas of new work, influence, ability to build

consensus, leadership and service to the consortium.

Board of Directors elects
 officers, seats new members

At the annual face-to-face meeting in July, Bob Freund of Hitachi was

elected to serve as chair and Frederick Hirsch of Nokia as vice chair

of the OASIS Board of Directors. Jim Hughes of Microsoft continues as

Treasurer and Peter Brown takes on the role of Secretary. Abbie Barbir

of Bank of America, Peter Brown, Mike DeNicola of Fujitsu, Dave Ings

of IBM, and Sanjay Patil of SAP began their newly elected two-year

terms.

Trust Elevation TC forms

All interested parties are invited to participate in the new OASIS

Electronic Identity Credential
 Trust Elevation Methods ("Trust

Elevation") Technical Committee. This group will work to define a set

of standardized protocols that service providers may use to elevate

the trust in an electronic identity credential presented to them for

authentication. The Trust Elevation TC is intended to respond to

suggestions from several governments, including the U.S. NSTIC

strategy document.  TC proposers include representatives of Bank of

America, CA Technologies, Identity Commons, RedHat, OIX, U.S. National

Institutes of Health, U.S. National Institute of Standards and

Technology (NIST), U.S. Veterans Health Administration, and others.

Peter Alterman of U.S. NIST is the convener; a TC chair or two

co-chairs will be elected at the first meeting, which will be held by

teleconference on 5 Sept.

Production Planning and Scheduling (PPS) public review begins

Designed for manufacturing industries to enable collaborative planning

and scheduling across platforms, PPS 1.0 describes rules for XML

document exchange transaction messages and defines profiles for

exchanging semantic information among different application systems.

This public review ends 31 Aug.

Registration Opens for Int’l Cloud Symposium (ICS)

A preliminary programme and list of speakers are now available for the

event, which will be held 10-14 October at the historic Ditton Manor

near London. Hosted by OASIS, in collaboration with EU-funded Siena

Initiative and the Cloud Best Practice Network, ICS 2011 is the first

in a series of symposia that will bring together leaders from around

the world to exchange experiences and explore new ways to accelerate

robust and trusted Cloud deployments for the public sector.

OASIS upgrades TC collaboration tools

The members-only portions of the OASIS website are being upgraded to

the latest version of the collaboration platform provided by Kavi

Corp. This change promises to deliver a more reliable infrastructure

and modern tool-set for member use.  All web and email assets on

www.oasis-open.org, tools.oasis-open.org, and lists.oasis-open.org

will be off-line the weekend of 27-28 Aug for the transition.
