Dear Jean-Jacques:

We discussed this item at today's DITA TC meeting. We cannot implement the design patterns that you suggest for DITA 1.3 (or any DITA 1.x releases) as it would break backward compatibility.

We can consider it as we design DITA 2.0, however.

Best,
Kris

Dear chair people and voting members of the DITA TC

To complete the proposal issued by Eliot (Kimber) on June, the 19th, we would like you to read the enclosed PDF document.

It is accompanied by a ZIP which contains valid XSDs for demonstration and proof of concept purpose:
  • In  directory ditabase, POC19.xml is a DITA topic containing not only topics of different DITA types but also an S1000D module.
  • In directory map, map.xml contains a topicref and an S1000D publication module (pmEntry)
  • In directory bookmap, bookmap.xml contains bookmap elements and an S1000D reference to an S1000D data module (element <dmRef>).
  • In directory pm, pmSchema.xml is an S1000D publication module containing one DITA map and one DITA bookmap mixed with references to S1000D data modules.
  • In addition, the demo ZIP files contain :
    • A constraint on the core p element (whose content is reduced to only #PCDATA, b, i and u) in XSD core/constraint.xsd ,
    • Miscellaneous usage of domains in technicalContent/topic (XSDs and XML named specializationXXXX.xsd/xml)
    • A new domain "poc1-d" in directory domains
Thanking you for your attention,  members of our group will be pleased to answer any questions.

Yours sincerely
