Proposal 13102 release management

https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00075.html (DITA, uploaded 23 August)
https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00076.html (PDF, uploaded 23 August)
https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201309/msg00001.html (Amber Swope, 1 September 2013)
[Continued discussion]
- Robert; We still have the issue with XNAL, bringing in so many elements; we didn't have resolution last week.
- Kris; TomC, can you review the points Amber raised?
- Joann; she looked at the original list of requirements from the medical device industry. During Tom's discussions with Eliot, they decided that some of her requirements were too specific to that industry, so they're allowed as specializations from 'data' element. Do we need to note that in the proposal?
- Kris; we don't need to make those changes, but we do need to let Amber know why those requirements aren't there in the proposal.
- Joann; I've already replied to her privately. For example, we decided that wrt the ability to put 'track-change' in the comment, the SC thought it was too complex at this time.
- Eliot; wrt her question about change-started/change-completed; we need to make the intention for those elements very clear in the stage 3 [and 1.3 spec] docs; i.e., what does it mean for a change to be started/completed?
- Joann; TomC, why did you set up the change-started/change-completed like that?
- TomC; These elements were modeled on bookchange-history; I assumed that's what people wanted, but I'm not sure; we personally don't use them.
- Nancy; Erik Hennum and I originally took the model for those elements from DocBook, but I can't remember where DocBook got them...
- Eliot; wrt Robert's issues with XNAL, I'm sympathetic. An alternative is to create specific elements for person and organization.
- Robert; It comes down to whether we'll ever need the XNAL substructure for those elements; I've gotten a sense that it's overkill.
- Joann; two simple elements is what we had originally, but Eliot suggested reusing XNAL.
- Eliot; At this point, I'd go with 1-2 simple elements rather than XNAL.
- Joann; If we make that change, wouldn't that require another discussion next week?
- Eliot; I'd be ok with voting on it with a note in the minutes about the change.
- Robert; But I would like to know the names/content models of the elements before we vote on them.
- TomC; they were change-person, change-organization
- Nancy; so will those changes appear in a new version of the Proposal?
- TomC; I can do that; are those the only changes?
- Eliot; you need to remove the XNAL pieces and declarations from wherever they are in this plugin.
- TomC; I can do that.
Resolution; TC will vote on this next week.

3. DITA 1.3 proposals, stage 3: https://wiki.oasis-open.org/dita/DITA_1.3_Proposals-stage3

Stage 3 review process: Responsibilities of proposal owner and reviewers
https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201306/msg00126.html (Eberlein, 25 June)

a. Reviewers needed
Proposal 13104: allow keyref on object
https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00093.html (Kimber, 25 Aug)
- added Dick

b. Eliot's many proposals
Eliot reported: On 13111 (new domain for MathML); he had a meeting with all the reviewers, including Deb, Robert, and the folks from Design Science, and they came to agreement on what the proposal should be. On 13112 (RelaxNG for DITA), he's also close to having that proposal ready for reviews.

c. Ready for discussion
13116: in <br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00083.html (Kimber, 25 Aug, note of readiness for vote)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00084.html (DITA)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00085.html (PDF)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00086.html (HTML) <br /> Eliot; Reviewers (Joann and Bob Thomas) were happy with the proposal; it allows cite element in titles and in any context that has title.content.<br /> Resolution; TC vote next week<br /> <br /> 13117: Allow xref in shortdesc<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00087.html (PDF, 25 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00088.html (HTML, 25 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00089.html (DITA, 25 Aug) <br /> Eliot; similar sort of proposal to 13116; reviewers (Joann and Deb) are OK with it, which just updates shortdesc to include xref<br /> Resolution; TC vote next week<br /> <br /> 13092: Allow ph in indexterm<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00061.html (PDF, 19 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00062.html (HTML, 19 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00063.html (DITA, 19 Aug) <br /> Eliot; reviewed by Stan and Joann; this was needed in order to put things like 'sub' or 'super' in indexes; no required change in docs, but editors could update examples to illustrate this.<br /> Kris; if that's the case, I'd like to see the changed examples in the proposals, so they don't fall off the table.<br /> Robert; I agree<br /> Resolution; moved back to development review - Eliot will add modified examples.<br /> <br /> 13027: draft-comment everywhere<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00058.html (DITA, 19 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00059.html (HTML, 19 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00060.html (PDF, 19 Aug) <br /> Eliot; reviewed by Nancy and Jim Tivy; the proposal previously enumerated draft-comment changes where they weren't before; now the extra changes have been removed. The main challenge for processors is that if it shows the draft comment, it has to figure out how to do it for these new contexts.<br /> Kris; do we need to add any text to the arch. spec (and the proposal) for processors?<br /> Eliot; we're not changing the expectations for how you might want to process them; you just want to do it in more places. <br /> Resolution; TC vote next week<br /> <br /> 13023: new div element<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00055.html (DITA, 19 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00056.html (HTML, 19 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00057.html (PDF, 19 Aug) <br /> Eliot; reviewed by Stan and Don, no particular technical issues. Defined a new element type called 'div', as the intersection of bodydiv and sectiondiv, so it can be a single element/spec to be in either body or section. Only notable item is that there's quite a bit of doc change to account for the change to where sectiondiv or bodydiv is ementioned.<br /> Resolution; TC vote next week<br /> <br /> <br /> 13029: allow text everywhere<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00049.html (PDF, 19 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00050.html (HTML, 19 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00051.html (DITA, 19 Aug) <br /> Eliot; reviewed by Don and Dick; allows text everywhere PCDATA is allowed. if you're using text for conref, you could keep using it.<br /> Don; A description of the relaxation itself and its implication for conref should be part of this change, for the release notes. because it's important enough.<br /> ACTION ITEM; note this item as required for 1.3 release notes.<br /> Resolution; TC vote next week<br /> <br /> 13044: allow basic.ph in data<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00033.html (HTML, 18 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00034.html (PDF, 18 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00035.html (DITA, 18 Aug) <br /> Eliot; reviewed by TomM and Dick; proposal allows basic.ph in 'data'. One issue that came up in 13102 (release mgmt.) was the question of whether we could allow data in all elements, but that wasn't wanted for that.<br /> Eliot also confirmed for TomM that the proposal had been updated and reloaded into KAVI after he incorporated changes made in response to TomM's review.<br /> Resolution; TC vote next week<br /> <br /> 13010: sort as<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00024.html (PDF, 17 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00025.html (HTML, 17 Aug)<br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201308/msg00026.html (DITA, 17 Aug) <br /> Eliot; proposal was complex and was reviewed by Thilo, TomM, and Dick, who had a number of comments which resulted in a bunch of communication back-and-forth. Proposal adds new type of sort-as to utility domain, modeled on index sort-as; it occurs in contexts where it shows how the thing it's in should be sorted. The doc adds a new topic on sorting and how to do it. <br /> Resolution; TC vote next week<br /> <br /> d. Ready for vote: <br /> none <br /> <br /> <br /> 1. NEW ITEM: @outputclass attribute for <subjecthead><br /> https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/dita/201309/msg00004.html (Joe Gelb, forwarded by Eberlein; 3 September 2013) <br /> Eliot; looks like outputclass is everywhere except a few places in subject scheme, e.g. subjecthead, related-subject, has-related, has-part. It seems to be a bug. Because @outputclass isn't inherited, we always have to create it manually in a content model, so we probably just left it out.<br /> Kris; shall we simply add this to our list of bug fixes for 1.3?<br /> Robert; i'd say so.<br /> ACTION ITEM; add this to 1.3 bug fix list<br /> <br /> <br /> meeting closed at 11:59<br /> <br /> -- Nancy Harrison <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" style="border:1px solid #DDDDDD; margin:10px 0 0 0; font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:12px; line-height:18px;"> <tr> <td style="padding:15px;"> <strong>Document Name</strong>: <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/dita/document.php?document_id=50570">DITA TC Meeting Minutes 3 Sept 2013</a><br /> <hr style="height:0; border:1px dotted #DDDDDD; border-width:2px 0 0; margin:10px 0 8px;" /> No description provided. <br /> <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/dita/download.php/50570/latest/minutes20130903.txt">Download Latest Revision</a><br /> <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/document.php?document_id=50570&wg_abbrev=dita">Public Download Link</a><br /> <hr style="height:0; border:1px dotted #DDDDDD; border-width:2px 0 0; margin:10px 0 8px;" /> <strong>Submitter</strong>: Nancy Harrison<br /> <strong>Group</strong>: OASIS Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) TC<br /> <strong>Folder</strong>: Meeting Notes<br /> <strong>Date submitted</strong>: 2013-09-05 14:04:38<br /> <br /> </td> </tr> </table> <!--X-Body-of-Message-End--> <!--X-MsgBody-End--> <!--X-Follow-Ups--> <hr> <!--X-Follow-Ups-End--> <!--X-References--> <!--X-References-End--> <!--X-BotPNI--> <HR> <p>[<a href="msg00013.html">Date Prev</a>] | [<a href="msg00013.html">Thread Prev</a>] | [<a href="msg00015.html">Thread Next</a>] | [<a href="msg00015.html">Date Next</a>] -- [<A HREF="maillist.html#00014">Date Index</A>] | [<A HREF="threads.html#00014">Thread Index</A>] | [<a href="/archives/dita/">List Home</a>]</p> <!-- FORM --> <HR noshade SIZE=4> <!--X-BotPNI-End--> <!--X-User-Footer--> <!--X-User-Footer-End--> <!-- <P>Powered by <A HREF="http://www.ezmlm.org/">ezmlm-idx</A></p> --> </BODY> </HTML>
