Also Deb Bissantz sent you a note about a potential co-author. Sounds really good.

I think that’s a great idea, JoAnn! I’d be happy to contribute the Accessibility topic I already submitted to this list last week, if that will help?

Thanks and best regards,

Scott, at this point adding another topic to the spec is scope creep; if you wanted to do that, it should have been called out in the stage 2 proposal.

I *do* think that adding a topic to the spec about accessibility would be a good enhancement, but I think it needs to wait for a future release -- and to cover more than tables.

At this point, I'd suggest that you look at your current examples and pare them down. What you want to ensure they address is highlighting the new functionality:
  • @rowheader in <table> and <colspec>
  • @scope and @headers in <entry>

You do not need the lengthy example about table headers; I think only the examples in tables 3, 4, and 5 are worth considering. Try to shorten the examples; preferably, build on the example currently in the <table> topic of the Language Reference.

I hope that this helps.

Best,
Kris

All,

what about creating a new topic that addresses how to mark up content for accessibility in DITA?

Please see attached for an example of this topic. This way we do not “clutter” the table or entry reference topics.
