Subject: Re: [dita] Deprecated elements and attributes / "Reserved for future use"

Wow, good memory.

That "longdescre" attribute was defined on <object> way back in DITA 1.0. It was never defined in the specification text.

The DITA 1.1 and 1.2 DTD grammar files contained this comment next to the definition of <object>:
<!-- The longdescre attribute is an error which appeared in the
original DTD implementation of OASIS DITA. It is an error that
is not part of the standard. It was left here to provide time
to change documents, but it will be removed at a later date.
The longdescref (with ending F) should be used instead.       -->

The comment was lost in DITA 1.3 with the generated DTDs, but the attribute remains, for the same reason. We should definitely remove it in DITA 2.0.

Don't we also have an instance of a misspelled version of @longdescref on some element?  I think it's been deprecated for a couple of releases already, but we should make sure to remove it for 2.0.
