Subject: Re: [dita] LwDITA subcommittee response: content model for <dd>

Thank you, Alan. I am willing to table my concerns and defer to the subcommittee.

Best Regards
Bob

Colleagues,

At least one DITA TC member raised an issue about the appropriateness of the LwDITA content model for definition lists. (Bob Thomas, to give credit). Specifically, should the description/definition component (<dd>) allow nested <dl> and <simpletable>?

The Lightweight DITA Subcommittee discussed this on June 14*. The subcommittee's consensus is that the current content model is appropriate:

- One can envision reasonable use cases for allowing <dl> and <simpletable> in a definition.

- Forbidding nesting of <dl> would require some amount of architectural effort.

- The content model maps to the HTML5 content model for description lists.

I trust this provides the DITA TC sufficient information to close the issue.
