Subject: DITA-OT Registry information

As discussed on the TC today - DITA-OT added support for a registry with the latest release (version 3.2), which came out at DITA-OT day early this month.

The registry is meant as a place to list and find plug-ins that work with DITA-OT, which can include configured document type shells, processing extensions, new transform types, or anything that fits in a DITA-OT plug-in structure. Version 3.2 of DITA-OT can automatically install from the registry by running the normal install process with only desired the plug-in ID, such as the following to install my "morse code transform type" tutorial:
dita --install org.metadita.morse

The registry is really just a registry; it lets you find and install plug-ins, but the plug-ins are hosted wherever the owner wants to make them available. DITA-OT developers have not validated the plug-ins in any way beyond automated tests to see if they install (no tests to verify that they do what they claim).

For further details, you can find the Git repo that lists plug-ins here (anyone can create a pull request to list their own):

To see a more readable list of all plug-ins currently in the registry, go here (currently having an issue with some versions of Firefox, so if you only get a heading, try a different browser):

And finally, the documentation on how to use the registry or add your own plug-ins:

Any questions (or anyone who wants to get involved!), please let me know.
