Subject: Re: DOCBOOK-APPS: FOP as PDF processor for DocBook

But FOP and also XEP from RenderX are not able to process large document. Both engines crash after a while with some more or less stupid error messages. Our User Manual got about 250 pages and lots of graphics. After a long fight with FOP and XEP we gave the hole FO->PDF thing up. I thnik this technology needs some more time to get ready for the normal users. So we started to use OpenJade and the DSSSL-Stylesheets to create RTF and converted it into PDF. Maybe you should also take a look at PassiveText under http://users.ox.ac.uk/~rahtz/passivetex/. This is FO-Engine relying on xmltex.
