DOCBOOK-APPS: Multi-column output

Hi,

By way of experimentation, I'm trying to get multicolum output with DSSSL 
(1.76 stylesheets), setting %page-n-columns% to 2. I get the following 
error when processing the resulting tex file with jadetex;

! LaTeX Error: \begin{multicols} on input line 1364 ended by \end{multicols*}.

Any ideas why this might be or what it means?
