I switched my customization to: <xsl:param name="chunker.output.method" select="'html'"/> <xsl:param name="chunker.output.doctype-public" select="'-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN'"/> <xsl:param name="chunker.output.doctype-system" select="'http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd'"/> and deleted my <xsl:template name="process-chunk-element"> override and still get the same error (the resulting chunk HTML pages don't contain a DOCTYPE).
