Is this HTML or FO output? HTML. the numbers assigned by <co> tags are proper, at the ends of their respective lines. but the entries in the calloutlist have the numbers, then, as i said, a new line before the actual text. i'm using exactly the syntax i see in norm's TDG example for calloutlist. except for that oddity, everything else is fine. i'm trying to figure out if there's some other XSL directive i overlooked, but i think i've seen all of them related to callouts. rday
