Giuseppe, I believe XMI was really to be the XML vocabulary for exchanging this type of information. You could always use SVG for the diagramming portion (which could be embedded within DocBook), but the actual semantic meaning of UML would be lost. Many UML tools (including I think ArgoUML/Poseidon for UML) support XMI. Cheers!
