Subject: Re: [docbook-apps] Word-->DocBook (any existing solutions + anideafor a new solution)
Gentlemen:
There is a feature in OpenOffice 1.1 that can be used in converting Word
documents into DocBook. It has an XML filter for Simple DocBook that
permits the user to export a text file to the DocBook format (and vice
versa). There is also an XML filter for importing WordXML
documents. This feature is not in the default installation.
Instead, it needs to be selected in the custom install.
The following document contains a detailed description in using this and
other XML filters: http://www.informit.com/content/downloads/OpenOfficeUpdate.pdf
It should be noted that TEI has a set of files using this same
feature. See http://www.tei-c.org/Software/teioo/
I am not aware of any files for DITA; but that is not to say they do not exist.
Given IBM's tepid support of OpenOffice, I doubt it will develop a set for
DITA.
