Hi Paul,
I'm not quite clear on what is going wrong.  I copied your stylesheet below
and ran it with Saxon 6.5.3, and the ™ in my source file was converted
to ™ in the output HTML. When you say it didn't work, are you saying
you got ™ in your HTML output?
