Hi Ray,
When I process a mediaobject with 1.69.1 and the latest snapshot,
and look inside the resulting FO files, I don't see any
difference in the fo:external-graphic that is generated.  Can you
peek inside your FO for the two versions and see if there is a
difference?

I presume the error message is coming from XFC, not Saxon, right?
