Subject: RE: [docbook-apps] Using a style similar to O'Reilly's books
While imitation is a form of flattery, I'd advise against simple copying: - If your work could be mistaken for an O'Reilly product, you may be infringing on some rights. At least ensure that you are not infringing. - What you like about the O'Reilly design might not be visible on the surface; it's got a lot to do with the 'invisible book', the considerations and care in the editing process. I suggest that you start here: http://www.oreilly.com/oreilly/author/stylesheet.html and then maybe 'Read me First!' http://www.sun.com/books/catalog/sun_tech_pub.xml and 'Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications' http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/books/6074.asp kind regards Peter Ring > -----Original Message----- > From: Marc Baaden [mailto:baaden@smplinux.de] > Sent: 21. marts 2006 12:33 > To: docbook-apps@lists.oasis-open.org > Subject: [docbook-apps] Using a style similar to O'Reilly's books > > > > Hi, > > I would like to "style" a current docbook project as close as > possible to the O'Reilly series books (like for example the Docbook > reference guide). > Are the necessary fonts, style-sheets, parameter settings etc. > freely available and where can one get them? > > Thanks in advance, > Marc Baaden > > -- > Dr. Marc Baaden - Institut de Biologie Physico-Chimique, Paris > mailto:baaden@smplinux.de - http://www.baaden.ibpc.fr > FAX: +33 15841 5026 - Tel: +33 15841 5176 ou +33 609 843217 > > > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > To unsubscribe, e-mail: docbook-apps-unsubscribe@lists.oasis-open.org > For additional commands, e-mail: > docbook-apps-help@lists.oasis-open.org > >
