I would I also recommend XML mind XML editor (http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/) which is cross platform as well and is quite easy to extend to suite your needs. Moreover, standard edition is free of charge.

I am quite new to DocBook editing and more familiar to FrameMaker way of working.

Does there exist any good DocBook editing software, that works in both windows and linux, which lets me view both the raw text and a preview more like a WYSIWYG mode?
