Subject: Google Summer of Code communication
I just spoke with one of the GSoC students, and we discussed possibilities for email communication related to the GSoC projects. Our conclusion was that the docbook apps mailing list was probably the best place for us to hold all but private email conversations, because this the mailing list seems to have the widest concentration of interested and knowledgeable people. Our concern was that if we created another list, members of the DocBook community would be out-of-the-loop and it would be harder for students to get feedback. I would not expect the volume to be large, and if the volume gets out of hand, we can always move to another list. Of course, we would use the docbook developers list for information that is appropriate for that list (repository issues, etc.). But, I think it would be good for the whole community to see what the students are doing and to have the opportunity to comment and help as appropriate. Therefore, I'd like to propose that we do that and ask the members of this list to comment or express any concerns you have about the idea.
