That's interesting. Has the TC ever considered modularizing DB ?

One of last summer's GSoC projects was about adding API-level markup 
(including stylesheets). A particularly interesting aspect of that work 
was that it adds a domain-specific vocabulary as an extension, rather 
than adding to DB itself.

There are a number of DB sub-domains that could really be made available 
as extension "profiles", leaving a "core" grammar that would be smaller, 
and could potentially match what you describe as the "Publishers Schema".
