Hi Dick,
The epubcheck beta 2 is new since I completed my testing. I will need to do more testing with the epubcheck beta 2 version.

I think the program is correct about epub:type="section". I thought that was one of the allowed values, but looking again I find it is not. It seems that <section> is as generic as <div>, so it does not add any semantic value. I'll remove that for the next release.

Re: my previous message about the epub3 transforms. I just finished reading some information about HTML5 and realized that <section> is a valid new element in HTML5. I was parsing against plain old xhtml, which doesn't have that element.

However, I think the issue with epubcheck complaining about epub:type may still be a problem, unless that's a glitch in epubcheck for 3.0.
