Also, to clinch it, if I edit en.xml and change only the entry for section in the xref context, it works, but if I put the gentext stuff in my customization layer [1], it doesn't. Is it working for you? If so, I'll keep digging in my customization layer. I'd be surprised if such a basic thing were broken in the xsls though. Someone else would certainly have run across it.
