Subject: Re: [docbook-apps] Docbook XSL and FOP 2.0
Hi Dean,I think the problem with most open source software is that there is no specialized Quality Assurance team.
We, the public who uses the product are the QA team. And we are skeptical of testing beta versions of the product because it might have bugs in it. And because of that, the final product actually has bugs in it.
I think that a relatively bug-free open source product needs to have three things:
1) Automated tests which are run every night and should detect regression problems.
2) Shorter release cycles. 3) Large user based. Probably Apache FOP only has (3), at least in this particular case. Regards, Radu Radu Coravu <oXygen/> XML Editor, Schema Editor and XSLT Editor/Debugger http://www.oxygenxml.com On 6/30/2015 8:54 AM, DeanNelson@aol.com wrote:
Radu, That says a lot! It seems like a simple fix to me. I wonder why they let it out of the gate that way? That's a major bug. I will probably wait as well since I have no interest in maintaining a patch in our system and the time between FOP updates is usually quite a long time. Thanks for your input! But that left me with a bitter test of the initial Apache FOP 2.0 encounter. I will probably wait for 2.1 before I integrate it into our product (Oxygen XML Editor).
