Hi Gabriela,

I don't think there is a single parameter that controls the starting number.

However, there is a template in the stylesheets called initial.page.number, which I think you can customize to do this.

Here is the description of that template in the online version of Bob Stayton's book, DocBook XSL: The Complete Guide:
