Minutes:
1. Roll call
Scott, Tim, Justus
Jirka regrets cannot make this one.

2. Next meeting: Tuesday, 9 Mar 2010, 14:00:00 UTC, which would be Tue 4:00 PM in Prague, Tue 10:00 AM Eastern and Tue 8:00 AM Mountain
Justus has conflict on that date. Will note his regrets.

3. Review of the agenda.
No changes to agenda.

4. Review of open action items
COMPLETE:
Justus: Check whether DTD/XSD schemas prevent interoperability with major Elearning providers.
He did that, has a lot of documentation on that, but no interoperability problems since data is independent of schema or dtd. Not clear whether we should have both relaxng and DTD. maybe xsd is another way to get buy-in from publishers.

Tim: Set up name structure and assembly for the second three modules of the 'Writing Matters' site.

** CONTINUED **
Jirka:
  * Set up name structure and assembly for the third three modules of the 'Writing Matters' site.
Scott:
  * Set up a SourceForge repository to hold our schema work and sample files
  * Check with the 'Writing Matters' site people to make sure we give appropriate credit for using their site in our design.
  * Send members link to proposal for the 'topic' element.

All:
  * Identify samples of Elearning content we could use in our development
  * Review best practices in eLearning structures (see #7 below)

  * Review QTI (question test interoperability) work for discussion at next meeting.
  * Summarize some best practices we've already looked at on the wiki 'Best Practices' page.
  * Post information/link to review the QTI work on the wiki 'Best Practices' page.
  * Review mailing list messages (see #8 below)

5. Proposed Roadmap
a. Review modular DocBook proposals and provide feedback to TC
b. Review best practices in eLearning structures that should be considered for DocBook eLearning.
c. Identify general eLearning needs not currently met by DocBook
d. Identify additional specific domains within the eLearning industry that may need specific modules.

f. develop DocBook v5.0 schema enhancements from RFEs
g. submit schema enhancements for approval to DocBook TC

6. Review DocBook assembly sample: http://wiki.oasis-open.org/docbook/modularDocBook.
NOTES:
Subcommittee strongly feels that the assembly needs the info element within modules as well as the assembly itself. (assembly, structure, and module (module info element would be an addition))

What information should be included in the assembly--we don't want too much that might affect localization (for example, instructor info). something to think about; could use profiling.

An assembly could contain zero or more structures; with none, it's a collection of resources. with more than one, its could provide different courses from a single assembly. or you could include an assembly with only resources into another assembly.

The relationship element provides a way to tie taxonomic term to specific modules or resources.
It applies to course as a whole.

A "Learning objective", which is a type of association, could be included in the info element so you can have hierarchical learning objectives.

7. Review best practices in eLearning structures that should be considered for DocBook eLearning. http://wiki.oasis-open.org/dita/LearningContent/Background
