All: Try out publishers.rnc, legal.rnc and report any problems CONTINUE 6. Proposed Roadmap a. Identify elements that should be part of Core DocBook b. Identify potential "modules" for elements currently part of DocBook but belonging to a particular domain. c. Recommend Core DocBook and proposed modules to DocBook TC d. Identify general publishing needs not currently met by DocBook e. Identify additional specific domains within publishing industry that may need specific modules. f. develop RFEs from identified needs In progress. Specification work coming so that it can go out for some public review after input from the TC. g. develop DocBook v5.0 schema enhancements from RFEs h. submit schema enhancements for approval to DocBook TC 7. SVN update a. http://docbook.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/docbook/trunk/docbook/relaxng/ Scott spoke with Norm and setup a structure for our work[2]. Source files have been uploaded. We'll need to figure out with Norm the existing model for flattening our RNC files into a unified RNG? file and uploading/building documentation (spec/). 8. ePub target update (Keith) Keith: IDPF conference going on right now, where a lot of vendors are announcing .epub support. Keith is trying to make a release of the stylesheets soon that includes support for DocBook->.epub. 9. Specification process / update (Scott, Norm) Scott: A schema reference guide has been created & it can be published as a document on OASIS. We might use that as part of our specification. Stall until we understand what Norm used to generate OASIS-acceptable specifications? Jim Early did much of the work on the reference guide itself. x. Review of Requests for Enhancement a. 1964024: Formalize the adoption of Dublin Core in the info element[2] """While DocBook already includes many of the elements that are defined by the Dublin Core, it is not inherently interoperable with DC metadata. The Publisher's SC (and hopefully the the DocBook TC) should consider adopting DC metadata as a formal metadata model for elements""" Keith: Would like to know exactly which version of DC the submitter wants. It sounds like a sane request. Scott: Thinks that this could use the DC namespace explicitly, ala XLink. This would avoid new element name creation. Beware of collision between db:info and dc:* collision (where applicable). Scott: Is concerned that DC doesn't have an RNG version of their grammar. Keith: Isn't sure that's true. Scott: In any case, we could submit a new RNG to them for inclusion. DISCUSS NEXT MONTH New Action items: * Keith to formalize the collection of examples, mark them up, and test against them for dialog and poetry. * All: look for good examples of dialog and poetry & submit to Keith * All: look for good examples of legal markup * Scott: Follow up with Norm on SVN structure & documentation build questions --------- Adjourned: 12:30pm Pacific --------- [1] http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/docbook-publishers/event.php?event_id=17766&day=1207130400 [2] https://docbook.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/docbook/trunk/docbook/relaxng/publishers [3] https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1964024&group_id=21935&atid=1037852 This event is one in a list of recurring events.
