Hi Norman, I got a bounce from the list email so mailed to you, can you forward if appropriate!.. I would like to propose replacing Cals and XHTML tables in Docbook with a more simplified 'block and frame' model?... I have found it pretty do-able on a number of fairly complex projects to use a more simplified block model for authoring and then map to multiple tables/grid formats on output!! I believe a 'block and frame' model could be more easily mapped into full Cals, XHTML tables, div+CSS tables, WordML tables etc. at the output stage by using modern stylesheets such as XSLT 2.0 ( although it is necessary to work at adding a number of attributes to this basic model below!! ): <frame cols="6" rows="6" class="sunrise"> <block cols="1" rows="1">[...]</block> <block cols="1" rows="1" valign="bottom">[...]</block> <block name="box1" cols="1" rows="1" align="right">[...]</block> [...] </frame> Kind Regards Gary -- +----------------+-------------------+ | Gary Cornelius | gary@cornelius.bz | +----------------+-------------------+ | MSN: gary@cornelius.bz | | Skype: garycornelius | +------------------------------------+ | 15 Queensberry Street, Apt. #21 | | Boston, MA, 02215, USA | +------------------------------------+--- End Message ---
