Subject: Re: [docbook-tc] Fw: [members] OASIS Symposium - Call for Participation

Hi,

The DITA TC is definitely interested in having a session on DocBook-DITA
interoperability at the symposium. They've asked me and Erik Hennum (also
of IBM and one of the original DITA architects) to work with whoever on
our TC is interested in collaborating on a proposal. Given that the
deadline for proposals is a week from today, can we set up a phone call to
discuss it? We only need a bare bones proposal for next week, so if we
think we can come up with something, a brief abstract will do.

I'm available this week Weds., Thurs. and Fri. afternoon. Steve, Scott,
and Bob, you all expressed interest. Are any or all of you available any
of those times? And Erik, what times would work for you?

Nancy

I agree that this is a good idea.

I was surprised to see that Joanne Hackos sent out an email that I
perceived as rather inflammatory about how DocBook was the "same-old
same-old" and that it doesn't consider other information types. This
DocBook vs. DITA debate is somewhat silly because content can be
authored modularly in either system. The names of the tags aren't
important: the delivery/production process and writing style are.

There is a lot of misinformation floating around. We should help to
correct that.
