Basically, you have to make sure that your definitions override the definitions loaded in {html|print}/dbl1de.dsl. This basically means you have to reproduce the whole {html|print}/docbook.dsl driver file, making sure that the right values get loaded. The attached files show how this might be done. These files work if you install them in {place-where-you-put-the-stylesheets}/somedir. (In other words, in a directory that is a sibling of html or print.) You can put them anywhere you want if you change the appropriate relative paths to reach the original files.
