Subject: RE: DOCBOOK: sect1 in preface
Godoy, It is most unusual to xref an "informal" object. Standard publishing practice is to place any object that has references to it in a "formal" container. For example, if you need to reference a table, use <table> and not <informaltable>. If you want to reference a graphic or other multimedia object, place it in a <figure> rather than placing the <graphic> or whatever directly inline. Even if you are referencing lots of objects, I still recommend putting them in formal containers for two reasons: 1. You can reference them ;-) 2. If you need to reference them, they should be important enough to warrant a caption or title. Xref has to generate text, so you have (basically) > to point to something with a title. And can't a <informalfigure> be used instead of <figure>? I don't want to supply a title for every figure I use an <xref> to. -- Godoy. <godoy@conectiva.com.br> GPG Fingerprint 851B B620 626D 2AD0 E783 "Ser poeta não é minha ambição, E932 1330 BE6D A4A3 0625 é minha maneira de estar sozinho" - Fernando Pessoa.
