The funny thing is, with the print stylesheet, all the characters
display fine.

With the html stylesheet, unicode (utf-8 ?) characters are being
written. Problem is, &mdash; is not known (at least by Netscape 4.72),
and the Latin-4 characters which I was having problems with, look
fairly awful.
