non-breaking space instead of space in chapter headings

Hello

I have upgraded the docbook tools to those included in RedHat Enterprise V3
i e the stylesheets are v1.61.2.

In the html output produced with xmlto the space between the chapter number
and the first character of the chapter name is now a non-breaking space
(octal 240). With the tools in redhat 7.3 with stylesheets v1.49 the space
was written as a normal space (octal 40).
The difference is seen if the html page is served by e g Apache v2.

Can anyone clearify the situation ?
