Hi Henrik,

That's a nice application. I think the answer to your question is that allowing authorinitials would *require* an application to resolve them, and the DocBook standard is not written to require such applications. If I had to write stock Docbook for it, I would use:

<authorgroup>
 <author>
ÂÂÂ <othername role="initials">ABC</othername>
 </author>
Â...

It is longer, but achieves the same purpose.

Of course, you can always customize the schema for your purposes, as it is written to be easily customized. Norm Walsh wrote a section in DocBook: The Definitive Guide for this purpose:
