Subject: RE: [dsaw-program] Re: ITU-T/OASIS Workshop Website update

Dee

Let me comment in reverse order...

As much as I would like it, we cannot make a call for papers as the format will not accommodate it. Speakers as far as I understood will be on an invitation-only basis, and sending in papers would imply that submitters would be able to talk. That said, the objective of the text is simply to say that anyone that comes from a country that is an ITU member and who is interested in the subject is welcome to attend. Our public understands that as this is our "canned" text, but maybe for the website we could be less formulistic and just say that?

I am OK with the text on the registration except that I would be a bit reluctant to mention reception and coffee-breaks unless we are 100% sure we will be able to provide it. I'll let that be your call.

Cheers,
Simão

How about this for 'registration:'

Admission to the workshop is free. Registration is required for security reasons. Advance registration, which is strongly encouraged, will be open until 16 October 2006. Space permitting, registration will also be available in the lobby during the event. Registration for the workshop includes:
access to the workshop program and demonstration exhibits, coffee breaks, reception, and associated materials.

Shouldn't this be under "Call for Papers?" It seems like we are inviting contributions to the workshop?

Participation is open to ITU Member States, Sector Members and Associates and to any individual from a country which is a member of ITU who wishes to contribute to the work. This includes individuals who are also members of international, regional and national organizations.

Dee,

We do indeed have problems with ITU workshops because lots of people register, then never show, or the other way around.

Our policy is clear: anybody from a Member State can attend, we prefer that they pre-register, but we do accept walk-in registrations.

Best,
Richard
