Subject: Re: [dsml] Extensibility for enumerations
Hello Ed and welcome. Yes, you're the guy I was referring to. I
have XSV but haven't used it on our xsd's yet since they're still in a lot of
flux. I had, perhaps incorrectly, assumed that a validator would only
check instance documents against a given schema but, now that you mention it, I
suppose it would have to first validate the xsd to make sure it doesn't violate
the XML Schema recommendation. I'll try it out on our more uncertain
constructs.
Thanks,
Tom

I believe I am the person at Objective Systems to whom you
refer and I have indeed now joined the group. The way you show the
extended enumeration type below is the way we were thinking of doing it was well
and I believe this should work. As far as free XML structure checkers (or
validators are they are more commonly known), I can suggest the following links:
Xerces Java validator can be downloaded from:
http://xml.apache.org/xerces2-j/index.html IBM Xml Schema validator can be downloaded from: http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/xmlsqc XSV Schema Validator can be found at: http://www.w3.org/2001/03/webdata/xsv We have checked all code we have done to date with these
and the conversions are showing no errors.

Ed Day
