Subject: FW: [dss] Face-to-Face meeting dates in July

The WSDM TC has decided to meet in Raleigh. I will not attend that, so I have no preference among the dates.

The facilities are available for any of those dates and I personally can make any of them.

As it happens,  the WSDM TC seems about to schedule a F2F for July 28-30, so I have a slight preference for rescheduling. I will know for sure about WSDM in an hour or so. In any event, I can go with which ever dates the group selects, but I agree we should decide no later than Monday 6/30.

Well,

I guess that this depends first on the availability of the premises for those dates,
and second on the availability of the people willing to attend....
If the facilities can be there and people are also available on those dates, I would
not see problems but....I personally would have problems with August 4, as I
will start holidays that week..... and this can happen to other people...

I have not seen any additional comments on this issue apart from those made by
Nick..... and without them and the confirmation about the availability of the
facilities I am not sure whether we should re-open the issue or not.....
Opinions?

Juan Carlos.

Dear Colleagues

I know we proposed the dates of July 29-30 at Monday's telephone conference, but my main technical colleague and author of the UPU's Electronic PostMark interface specification is unavailable that week.

If it is possible to change and propose either the week of July 21 or week of August 4 it would be appreciated. I know he would certainly be an extremely valuable contributor to such a meeting.

I have received only three responses to this straw poll. I would encourage anyone who may possibly attend a DSS TC face-to-face meeting to let me know their preferences. We should try to come to resolution on a venue at Mondays call.

As agreed on the conference call yesterday, we will likely have a face-to-face meeting sometime in June, July or August in order to progress work on our protocol(s) once we have completed the requirements draft. In anticipation of this, I would like to take a straw poll of TC members as to when and where would be most appropriate. There have been a number of suggestions and I would like to reduce this to the one or two proposals where we would likely get the highest attendance. I think we are looking at a one or two day meeting. I believe that the proposals have been:

1) NetSec 2003 Conference & Exhibition - New Orleans - June 23-24
<http://www.gocsi.com/netsec/03/>http://www.gocsi.com/netsec/03/

2) Catalyst North America - San Francisco - July 9-11
<http://www.burtongroup.com/catalyst/catna03/>http://www.burtongroup.com/catalyst/catna03/

3) IETF - Vienna, Austria - July 13-18
<http://www.ietf.org/meetings/IETF-57.html>http://www.ietf.org/meetings/IETF-57.html

4) John Messing said that he might be able to get us a room at the American Bar Association's meeting August 6-7, 2003, in San Francisco.

5) Juan Carlos Cruellas volunteered to host a meeting at UPC in Barcelona. This can be held anytime.

6) Hal Lockhart volunteered to host a meeting at BEA in Burlington, MA. This can be held anytime.

Please respond directly to me with your preferences and I will update the TC before the next meeting on June 16. Feel free to vote for more than one if you can make it to more than one of these. If you are choosing 5) or 6) please also indicate a preferred date.

Thanks,

Robert.
